NA adopts resolution regarding ‘Khatam-un-Nabiyeen’

ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution today urging the government that the name of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) should be written as “Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam” in all official and non-official documents.

The resolution was moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan.

In another resolution, the House recommended that the speech of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam to the Constituent Assembly on the 11th August 1947 regarding minorities should also be made a part of the syllabus.

The National Assembly also passed the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) bill, 2020. 

It was moved by Minister for Law Farogh Naseem.

Earlier, taking the floor, the Law Minister said it is a historic day that the FATF related legislation is being carried out with consensus in the larger interest of the country.  

Farogh Naseem said whitening the economy and checking terror financing is important to take the country forward on the path of development. 

He said it is also our aim to simplify the legislation and ensure protection of fundamental rights of the people.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, speaking on the floor said the terror financing and money laundering are the menace that Pakistan has to confront and eradicate. 

He said long deliberations were held with the opposition parties to reach consensus on the FATF related legislation and their positive suggestions were honestly incorporated.

The House also passed the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2020, The Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and Islamabad Capital Territory Trust Bill, 2020.

Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that more universities are being established to promote higher education in the country.

Speaking in the National Assembly today, he said our focus is also on improving the quality of higher education.

Minister for Maritime Affairs, Ali Zaidi, responding to a calling attention notice said fishermen will be made part of Kamyab Jawan Program to build their capacity.

He said the fishermen can also benefit from the incentives given in the shipping policy announced recently to uplift this industry. 

The Minister said efforts are afoot to exploit export potential of fisheries sector.

Speaking in the House, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said western route of the CPEC will be made reality.

He said several mega road infrastructure projects have been envisaged this year. He said construction work on Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway and Karachi-Chaman-Quetta highway will be started this year.

The Minister told the House that revenue of NHA has been enhanced from twenty five billion rupees to fifty billion rupees.

The house has now been prorogued.
