KARACHI – Patron-in-Chief Siraj Qasim Teli, Patron Zubair Motiwala and President Suleman Chawla of SITE Association of Industry, in a press statement, have demanded the Prime Minister of Pakistan to order immediate cut of 30% in the tariff of K-Electric in the wake of lowest oil prices locally & internationally.

They said that K-Electric generates significant volume of thermal electricity and since petroleum products are now available in abundance on lowest prices, the benefit of reduction in oil prices be passed on to all consumers.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team is dealing with the challenges of corona virus with a very practical approach keeping the associated economic challenges in focus together with medical threats”, they added that the only solution to overcome economic challenges is to boost industrial activities in the country. Since cost of production has a major component of electricity cost, lowering K-Electric tariff will also bring down the cost of production.

SAI leaders further said that If the government is keen to boost industrial activities in the country in general and in Karachi city in particular, this is right time to take this action and reduce the burden of high electricity bills from the industrial consumers of Karachi.

Siraj Kassam Teli, Zubair Motiwala and Suleman Chawla demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to examine the matter on the basis of ground realities and issue immediate orders to cut K-Electric power tariff.
