KARACHI : Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday was sworn in as the 33rd chief minister of Sindh.
The ceremony was held at the Governor House where acting Sindh governor Agha Siraj Durrani administered the oath to the 33rd Chief Minister of Sindh and other cabinet members.
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khursheed Shah, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, Senator Sherry Rehman, Corps Commander Karachi and Sindh Rangers Director General attended the ceremony.
Caretaker Sindh CM Fazlur Rehman also attended the ceremony.
Shah has assumed his responsibility as Sindh CM for the second consecutive term.
Pakistan Peoples Party s candidate Syed Murad Ali Shah had been elected as leader of the House in Sindh Assembly.
He secured 97 votes while his rival Shahryar Mahar bagged 61 votes. Shahryar Mahar was nominee of the joint opposition.
Murad Ali Shah previously assumed office of Sindh chief minister in July 2016, when he replaced PPP veteran Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who has now been elected from Khairpur’s provincial seat. During the July 25 polls, Shah won PS-80 Jamshoro I seat.
He served as provincial minister for irrigation and finance before being appointed Sindh chief minister in 2016.
The 55-year-old completed his matriculation from Saint Patrick’s High School, intermediate from DJ Sindh Government Science College and graduated as an engineer from NED University of Engineering and Technology. He also attended Stanford University in California on a scholarship.
