The project will include new astroturf to bring the playing surface in line with international standards. Workers will also repair the stadium’s infrastructure and upgrade its existing facilities.
The plan also includes better training facilities to help players prepare in a modern environment. The PHF expects the project to finish by January 2027.

Historic Venue for International Hockey
Lahore’s National Hockey Stadium has hosted several major international competitions. These include the 1990 Men’s Hockey World Cup and five editions of the Champions Trophy, held in 1978, 1988, 1994, 1998 and 2004.
The stadium also hosted a two-match series between Pakistan and a World XI in January 2018.
The renovation will modernise the venue and improve its facilities for players. It could also help Pakistan prepare to host future hockey events.
