KARACHI, October 3, 2026: Coke Studio Nu.WAV has released Maheya, bringing together singer Asim Azhar, emerging artist AARYAN and producer Rovalio on a song shaped by longing, nostalgia and discovery.

The track began more than a year ago when Rovalio developed its initial musical idea. He kept the composition with the hope that it would eventually find a place on Coke Studio. When Nu.WAV launched, the concept became part of the platform’s growing catalogue.

Asim Azhar later joined Rovalio in the studio. They developed the song with longtime collaborators before inviting AARYAN into the creative process. Her vocals add another dimension to the track, creating an exchange between two distinct voices.

Maheya Blends Pop With South Asian Sounds

Maheya opens with a haunting musical motif before moving between contemporary pop and familiar South Asian textures. Rovalio builds the arrangement around the vocals, adding guitars, harmonium and layered chorus sections.

The song gradually expands before moving into qawwali during its closing section. The transition gives the track a larger emotional scale while retaining its intimate core.

The visual treatment follows a similarly transformative approach.

Directed by Kamal Khan, the music video takes place inside a film studio and follows a former child star through recording rooms, old sound stages and different chapters of his life.

The world outside the camera remains largely monochrome. Inside the film sets, however, colour becomes central to the story.

Music Video Celebrates Pakistan’s Cinema Heritage

The video moves between recording booths and film sets inspired by romance, horror and adventure. It draws on Pakistan’s cinematic golden age and references the visual language of classic films.

Painted backdrops, vintage studio spaces and handmade props add to the nostalgic atmosphere. The production also highlights the craftsmanship behind filmmaking.

Kamal Khan, Executive Producer of Coke Studio Nu.WAV, said the team chose to interpret the song’s theme of love in a broader way.

Rather than presenting the track only as a romantic story, the video explores a character’s love for his father and his work.

Asim Azhar and AARYAN Represent Different Generations

Maheya brings together artists from different stages of their careers.

Asim Azhar entered Pakistan’s music industry at a young age through commercial jingles. He later began releasing independent music as a teenager.

He made his Coke Studio debut at 17 during Season 8. Since then, he has appeared in later seasons with songs including Tera Woh Pyar / Nawazishein Karam and Mahi Aaja.

AARYAN represents a newer generation of artists who have built audiences through digital platforms and independent releases.

Born in Karachi and raised between Gilgit and Hunza, she first gained attention through intimate acoustic covers shared online. One of her notable covers was Asim Azhar’s Tera Woh Pyar.

That cover helped bring her work to Asim’s attention. He later shared her music with Rovalio and encouraged her to explore Coke Studio Nu.WAV.

AARYAN’s music draws on Northern Pakistan’s cultures and landscapes. She sings across six languages and combines regional folk influences with acoustic songwriting and contemporary pop.

Rovalio Drives Producer-Led Sound

Rovalio, a Gilgit-born producer, has become part of South Asia’s growing producer-led music scene.

Entirely self-taught, he has accumulated more than 700 million streams across platforms. His credits include Bikhra and Iraaday with Abdul Hannan, Hisaab from Karan Aujla and DIVINE’s Street Dreams, as well as Maand with Bayaan and Hasan Raheem.

For Maheya, Rovalio shares composition and arrangement duties with Asim Azhar while shaping the track’s overall sonic identity.

The song was composed by Asim Azhar, Azhar Hussain and Rovalio. Asim Azhar and Rovalio arranged the track, while the lyrics came from Asim Azhar, AARYAN and Kumail Abbas.

Melvin Arthur contributed additional composition and guitars, while Haider Ali added programming and harmonium. Shahrukh Abbas Khan, Rizwan Mirza and Khurram Ali feature on the chorus.

Sean Tallman handled mastering, while Hashim Ali led Production Design and Art Direction. Aamir Mughal served as Director of Photography.
