Imran Khan Hospital Transfer: PTI Resubmits Contempt Plea in Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD, August 25, 2026: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has resubmitted a contempt of court petition to the Supreme Court over the alleged failure to comply with its order concerning Imran Khan hospital transfer.
The petition was filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan, after the Supreme Court registrar returned the original plea with objections.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the registrar informed him that the petition had been returned because it did not include a dispatched list of charges against the respondents. He said the party would submit the petition again after addressing the objections.
Dispute Over Supreme Court Order
Uzma Khan initially approached the Supreme Court last week, alleging that authorities had violated the court’s August 18 order.
The Supreme Court had directed the government to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital within two days. The order called for his examination and treatment by a multidisciplinary medical board at the private facility.
Authorities instead took the PTI founder to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), a government hospital, for a medical check-up before returning him to prison.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar attributed the change in arrangements to security concerns. He said PTI workers had created a security situation along the route to the hospital and outside the facility.

Sister Names Senior Officials
Uzma Khan was present when Imran Khan underwent the medical check-up. In her petition, she named several senior officials and political figures as respondents.
They include Islamabad Chief Commissioner retired Lieutenant Sohail Ashraf, Interior Secretary Ahmed Raza Sarwar, Punjab Inspector General of Prisons Mian Salik Jalal and Adiala Jail Superintendent Sajid Baig.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar were also named.
Uzma alleged that the respondents deliberately and wilfully disobeyed the Supreme Court’s directions.
She asked the court to appoint an officer or local commission to ensure that Imran Khan moves to the private hospital in accordance with its earlier order.
PTI Awaits Further Hearing
The Islamabad chief commissioner has separately approached the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of his review petition. That petition challenges the legality of the August 18 order.
PTI Chairman Gohar met the Supreme Court registrar on Monday. He said the registrar assured him that the court would constitute a bench to hear the contempt petition soon.
Gohar also rejected suggestions that the PTI founder was negotiating a deal with the government.
He said Imran Khan would not make such an arrangement and pointed to his continued imprisonment as evidence of the party’s position.
The resubmission of the contempt petition is expected to bring the dispute over Imran Khan’s medical treatment and the Supreme Court’s August 18 directive back before the apex court.
