Pakistan Pushes for Iran Conflict De-escalation During Asim Munir Visit

Field Marshal Asim Munir meets senior Iranian officials during Pakistan’s diplomatic visit to Tehran.
RAWALPINDI, August 25, 2026: Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to help resolve the ongoing US-Iran conflict, with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi completing a day-long visit to Iran.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit focused on efforts to break the deadlock in the conflict and explore measures that could deliver a lasting peace and reduce instability in the region.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, held meetings with several senior Iranian leaders during the visit.
Talks With Iran’s Leadership
Munir met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohsen Rezaei, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader on the Supreme National Security Council, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

He also met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
The discussions covered measures to prevent further escalation and accelerate efforts to end the conflict.
The officials also discussed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key regional waterway, as well as broader regional security and stability.
Pakistan Calls for Negotiated Settlement
According to ISPR, the two sides exchanged views on ways to reach a negotiated settlement to outstanding disputes.
Pakistan also stressed the importance of de-escalation and diplomatic engagement as part of efforts to bring the conflict to an end.
Iranian leaders appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and its efforts to facilitate dialogue, reduce tensions and pursue a peaceful resolution.
The visit forms part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic engagement aimed at supporting regional stability and preventing further escalation.
Iranian Officials Receive Pakistani Delegation
Upon arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a welcome from Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and other senior Iranian civil and military officials.
The high-level meetings come as Pakistan seeks to encourage dialogue between the parties and promote a durable solution to the ongoing crisis.
