SMAP and NAVTTC Complete First Phase of Youth Skills Programme

The Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SMAP), in collaboration with NAVTTC, has completed the first phase of its youth skills development programme.

The initiative aims to equip young Pakistanis with technical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge.

It also seeks to connect youth training with the changing needs of the job market.

75 Students Complete Training

Under the first phase, 75 students in Quaidabad received practical training.

The programme covered mining techniques and import-export documentation.

Students also learned about value addition and industry-related practices.

Sindh Labour Department, Industry Seek Stronger Coordination

The training aims to improve employment opportunities for young people.

It can also help participants develop businesses of their own.

Programme to Expand to New Areas

SMAP Chairperson Saima Akhtar and former Chairman Qasim Yaqoob Paracha welcomed the completion of the first phase.

They described the Punjab training programme as an important milestone.

The next phase will begin next month.

Training will expand to Karachi, Khewra, Toba and Layyah.

The programme aims to train 250 young men and women during the next phase.

Industry-Linked Training to Support Exports

Paracha said the success of the first phase encouraged SMAP to expand the programme.

He stressed the importance of industry-linked training.

According to Paracha, such programmes can create employment opportunities.

They can also strengthen Pakistan’s export potential.

Saima Akhtar said modern skills can support local industry.

She highlighted mining, value addition and trade as important areas.

Moreover, she stressed cooperation between industry and training institutions.

She said such partnerships are essential for sustainable economic growth.

SMAP Reaffirms Commitment

SMAP leaders appreciated the contribution of Shah Shamas ul Arifeen, Coordinator for SMAP, and the NAVTTC teams.

They also praised the partner training institutes.

Saima Akhtar reaffirmed SMAP’s commitment to national development.

She said the association will continue supporting employment, entrepreneurship and export growth.
