Pakistan Weather: PMD issues thunderstorm alert for northern regions and parts of Punjab
The Meteorological Department warns of strong winds, thunderstorms and possible damage to vulnerable structures, while hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across much of the country.

Pakistan Weather officials have issued a weather alert forecasting thunderstorms, strong winds and rain in parts of Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northeastern Punjab, while warning that gusty winds and lightning could damage weak infrastructure.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to remain hot during the day. However, strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms and rain are likely during the afternoon and evening.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts will continue to experience hot and humid weather. Rain and thunderstorms are expected later in the day in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Chitral, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram and Orakzai.
Punjab is also forecast to remain hot and humid across most districts. However, Murree, Galliyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot and Narowal may receive rain with thunderstorms and strong winds during the afternoon.
The PMD said Sindh is likely to experience intense heat and humid conditions, while coastal areas will remain partly cloudy.
In Balochistan, hot weather is expected to prevail across most districts. However, Khuzdar and nearby areas may receive thunderstorms and rainfall during the evening and night.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness partly cloudy skies, with isolated rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds at several locations.
The department also reported that upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and parts of Balochistan received rain and thunderstorms during the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in Malam Jabba, where 16 millimetres of rain fell, followed by Parachinar with 14 millimetres.
