According to the Foreign Office, the prime minister will convey condolences on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families while reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran during a period of national mourning.
After concluding his visit to Iran, the prime minister will travel to Istanbul at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to review the full scope of bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. They will also discuss regional peace and security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz will also address a business conference organised to showcase Pakistan’s investment opportunities. The event will focus on priority sectors including Special Economic Zones (SEZs), energy, information technology, trade and privatisation. Senior Turkish business leaders, investors and government officials are expected to attend.
The Foreign Office said the visits reflect Pakistan’s longstanding historical, cultural and fraternal relations with both Iran and Türkiye.
Addressing broader regional developments, Andrabi said Pakistan has intensified diplomatic engagement with regional and international stakeholders following the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 18 to support efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran.
He said discussions held in Doha this week showed positive progress on implementing various aspects of the agreement, adding that Pakistan would continue to play a facilitative role alongside Qatar in supporting the negotiation process.
The Foreign Office also reiterated Pakistan’s position on the Indus Waters Treaty, rejecting India’s decision to place the agreement in abeyance.
Andrabi said water should never be used as a political or strategic tool and stressed that any attempt to block Pakistan’s lawful share of the Indus river system would violate international legal obligations and undermine regional stability.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that the Indus Waters Treaty remains legally valid and cannot be suspended or terminated through unilateral action.
