Pakistan said it would facilitate the return of Iranian nationals through humanitarian coordination and regional cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that authorities were assisting with Iranian Repatriation and ensuring safe transit arrangements through Karachi.

According to Dar’s statement on social media, the operation involves 30 Iranian nationals. The group includes eight Iranian fishermen rescued at sea and 22 Iranian crew members connected to a vessel recently intercepted by United States authorities. The move highlights Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement during a sensitive regional period.

Ishaq Dar Explains Iranian Repatriation

Dar stated that Pakistan remained committed to facilitating the safe return of the affected individuals. He added that authorities were maintaining close coordination with Iran, the United States and the United Kingdom.

According to his statement, the rescued group included fishermen recovered by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat reportedly ran aground. Meanwhile, another group consisted of crew members linked to the vessel Lenore, also known as Davina.

He said both groups were expected to transit through Karachi in the coming days. Therefore, logistical arrangements and diplomatic coordination remained central to the repatriation process.

Pakistan Coordinates Karachi Transit Operations

Pakistan emphasised humanitarian cooperation while extending assistance for the return of Iranian nationals. Officials stated that the transit arrangements aimed to ensure safety and timely movement.

Moreover, Dar described the effort as part of Pakistan’s continued support for regional stability and humanitarian engagement. He stated that authorities were focused on helping individuals return home without unnecessary delays.

The Foreign Office has previously described similar actions as confidence-building measures between involved parties. As a result, diplomatic channels remained active throughout the coordination process.

Davina Vessel Case Draws Attention

Earlier this month, United States forces conducted an interdiction involving the oil tanker Davina in the Indian Ocean. The vessel, also known as Lenore, had previously been placed under US sanctions in October 2024 over Iranian oil trading activities.

According to shipping information referenced in reports, the tanker was capable of carrying substantial crude oil volumes. Separate maritime data reportedly indicated that the vessel had been carrying a significant cargo load at the time.

The intercepted vessel became part of broader regional attention due to ongoing geopolitical developments.

Pakistan Expands Humanitarian Diplomacy

This development follows an earlier case in May when Pakistan facilitated the return of crew members from a US-seized Iranian vessel.

Those crew members were transferred to Pakistan after release and later returned through coordinated arrangements. According to official statements, such actions were viewed as confidence-building measures.

Pakistan’s latest role in Iranian Repatriation reflects continued diplomatic engagement while balancing humanitarian assistance and regional coordination efforts.
