Pakistan Africa relations received renewed attention as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar proposed stronger cultural engagement during an Africa Day ceremony.

Shehbaz Sharif Renews Call for National Dialogue

Addressing African ambassadors and high commissioners, the minister called for establishing a joint Pakistan-Africa cultural forum. Moreover, he encouraged greater musical and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and African countries. According to his remarks, these initiatives could strengthen people-to-people connections and promote positive engagement.

Attaullah Tarar Proposes Cultural Forum

During his address, Attaullah Tarar proposed creating a platform to celebrate African traditions, music, and cultural values.

He stated that Pakistan seeks deeper cooperation in areas that highlight cultural richness. Furthermore, he said cultural exchange can create opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding.

The minister also proposed increased exchanges of musical groups between Pakistan and African countries. According to him, Africa’s traditions have remained vibrant across generations and offer valuable learning opportunities.

Pakistan Africa Cultural Exchange Expands

Tarar stated that Pakistan wants to learn more about African culture and musical heritage.

In addition, he referred to ancient African communities and their continued cultural traditions across the continent. He described Africa Day as more than a ceremonial event and said it represents diversity, values, and determination.

At the same time, he connected the occasion to broader cooperation between Pakistan and African nations.

Water Sustainability Connects Regions

Referring to the declaration of the current year as the Year of Water Sustainability, the minister highlighted water’s importance in Pakistan’s identity.

According to his remarks, water remains closely linked with Pakistan’s historical and cultural development. He stated that many traditions trace their roots to the Indus Valley Civilisation and the Indus River system.

Therefore, he said discussions around sustainability remain relevant for both regions.

Pakistan Africa Relations Continue Growing

The minister stated that Africa Day reflects shared historical experiences between Pakistan and African countries.

According to Tarar, both Pakistan and many African nations emerged from colonial rule with aspirations for equal participation in the global system. Consequently, this shared experience created a longstanding basis for friendship and cooperation.

He also praised Africa’s geographical diversity and referred to landscapes including the Serengeti, Sahara, Namib Desert, and Congo Basin.

Engage Africa Policy Supports Cooperation

Turning to foreign policy, Tarar stated that Pakistan’s engagement continues under the “Engage Africa” policy framework.

He said Pakistan remains committed to expanding political, economic, and cultural relations across the continent. Moreover, he described Africa as an important component of Pakistan’s international outreach.

According to the minister, cooperation currently extends into trade, education, health, defence, and capacity building.

Sports And Innovation Shape Africa

Tarar also highlighted Africa’s contributions to culture, climate awareness, wildlife conservation, and sports.

Referring to the FIFA World Cup, he expressed support for African teams and noted the continent’s success in international sporting events. He stated that sports create shared experiences and strengthen global connections.

Additionally, he described Africa as entering a transformative phase marked by youth populations, expanding economies, urban growth, and technological progress.

Pakistan Africa Partnership Looks Ahead

Concluding his remarks, Tarar described contemporary Africa as a story of resilience and ambition.

He said entrepreneurs continue building industries while younger generations shape digital and technological futures. Furthermore, he stressed that Africa deserves partnership and recognition.

The minister thanked participants for attending the event and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening long-term friendship and cooperation with African countries.
