The event focused on strengthening collaboration in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines while creating opportunities for academic growth, research partnerships, and professional development between Pakistan and China.
The forum featured seven specialized STEM mentorship clusters, including electrical and control systems, chemical and materials sciences, artificial intelligence and computer science, biological and agricultural sciences, civil and environmental engineering, earth sciences, and mechanical, aerospace, and energy disciplines.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions on emerging technologies, innovation, career pathways, and expanding opportunities under Pakistan-China cooperation frameworks.
Addressing the gathering, Khalil Hashmi highlighted the embassy’s efforts to build strong professional networks among Pakistani students and experts in China while fostering a culture of mentorship, innovation, and skills development.
He said the initiative reflects the embassy’s broader commitment to strengthening human capital development and expanding cooperation in advanced technological sectors.
Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the importance of aligning academic learning with modern industry demands and revealed that the embassy is actively promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) partnerships in sectors including agriculture, electrical equipment, home appliances, battery and power storage systems, information technology, and telecommunications.
He also announced that an ICT-focused symposium would be held on May 16, followed by a Business-to-Business Investment Conference on ICT in Hangzhou on May 24, aimed at enhancing collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese technology sectors.
Highlighting practical outcomes of previous initiatives, the ambassador noted that a dedicated job fair organized earlier had helped connect Pakistani students with Chinese companies operating in Pakistan, creating employment opportunities for graduates and professionals.
He further informed participants that the embassy is developing an AI-powered matchmaking platform designed to connect Pakistani students with leading Chinese state-owned and private enterprises for internships, jobs, and professional collaboration opportunities.
The forum also marked the formal launch of STEM mentorship clusters intended to ensure long-term engagement between mentors and mentees through regular follow-up sessions and collaborative activities.
The embassy appreciated the participation of students, professionals, and volunteer mentors, while extending special recognition to Dr Shamas Toor and Dr Majid Khan for their contributions to the mentorship initiative.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from the embassy to continue supporting educational, technological, and professional engagement platforms for the Pakistani community in China.
