The latest figures show that remittances increased by 11.4 percent on a year-on-year basis, reflecting continued support from overseas Pakistanis despite global economic challenges. However, on a month-on-month basis, inflows declined by 7.6 percent compared to March 2026.
According to the central bank, cumulative workers’ remittances during the first ten months of the current fiscal year — from July 2025 to April 2026 — reached $33.9 billion, marking an increase of 8.5 percent compared to $31.2 billion received during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The largest share of remittances during April 2026 came from Saudi Arabia, with overseas Pakistanis sending $841.7 million.
The United Arab Emirates remained the second-largest contributor with $734.7 million, followed by the United Kingdom at $563.7 million and the United States at $317.6 million.
Economists view remittances as a critical pillar of Pakistan’s economy, helping support foreign exchange reserves, stabilize the current account, and provide financial assistance to millions of households across the country.
The continued growth in remittance inflows is also expected to strengthen Pakistan’s external sector at a time when the country is pursuing economic stabilization measures under international financial programmes.
