During the meeting, it was decided that obstacles and delays affecting urgent public welfare projects would be removed on a priority basis to ensure timely completion. Officials from various Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) briefed the commissioner on the progress of development schemes in their respective areas and presented reports regarding property tax collection.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Keamari Ameer Fazal Oaisi, assistant commissioners, additional deputy commissioners, Director Development and Planning Commissioner Karachi Naseem Bhutto, and officers from TMAs, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and Karachi Development Authority (KDA).
Officials informed the commissioner about challenges being faced in property tax recovery. The meeting decided that awareness campaigns would be launched across towns to educate citizens about the importance of paying property taxes for improved civic services and infrastructure development.
Authorities were directed to issue recovery notices to defaulters who had not cleared outstanding dues. In cases where residents were unavailable, notices would be pasted on properties to ensure proper communication. Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi strictly instructed that no citizen should be harassed during the tax recovery process.
The meeting also reviewed complaints regarding delays in small but urgent civic improvement projects being handled by TMAs, KMC, and KDA. It was decided that urgent public welfare schemes would not be merged into annual development plans, as such inclusion often causes unnecessary delays in execution.
All deputy commissioners were directed to hold regular meetings with town administrations in their districts to identify hurdles affecting project completion and take immediate measures to remove obstacles.
The session further reviewed the performance of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants established for the supply of clean drinking water in Keamari district. Officials informed the meeting that eight RO plants had been installed with the support of the Water and Sewerage Corporation, of which seven were fully operational. The RO plant at Baba Island was reported non-functional due to technical issues.
Functional RO plants are currently operating in 500 Quarters Star Ground, Musharraf Colony, Hawks Bay, Younusabad, Grex Colony, Mowach Goth, and Bandhani Goth.
Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi directed Deputy Commissioner Keamari to immediately restore the RO plant at Baba Island. He also instructed all deputy commissioners across Karachi to review the operational status of RO plants in their respective districts and ensure uninterrupted water supply to residents.
Separately, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi participated in a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner Keamari office to mark the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq” and Bunyan Al-Marsous victory celebrations. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ameer Fazal Oaisi, assistant commissioners, town administration officers, and staff members.
