German Consulate Discusses “Green Pakistan Project” and Sustainability Cooperation with Pakistani Stakeholders in Karachi
Karachi — A high-level meeting was held between representatives of the German Consulate and Pakistani stakeholders to review progress on the “Green Pakistan Project” and explore expanded cooperation in sustainability, trade development, and capacity building initiatives.

The meeting included Thomas E. Schultze, along with Anja Klos and Shazia Shaikh from the German Consulate in Karachi. Also present were Dr. Michael Arretz of the German Importers Association, Dr. Astrid and Ms. Bettina representing Sequa.
Participants discussed the progress and impact of the “Green Pakistan Project,” which is funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented through Sequa in collaboration with the German Importers Association and Fruit of Sustainability (SMC-Private) Limited.
The project is currently focused on strengthening institutional and technical capacity within key Pakistani trade associations, including the Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association, PRGMEA, and the Towel Manufacturers Association.
Stakeholders emphasized that the initiative is helping improve export readiness, sustainability standards, and global competitiveness of Pakistan’s textile and sports goods sectors through targeted training and institutional development.
The German delegation and Pakistani counterparts also explored future avenues for deepening bilateral cooperation in green trade practices, sustainable production, and export diversification, highlighting the strong potential for long-term economic collaboration between Pakistan and Germany.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement to further strengthen sustainability-driven trade partnerships and institutional capacity building in Pakistan’s export industries.
