Co-founded by musician and producer Xulfi and Muhammad Ibrahim, Humnava is conceived as a global music and arts movement aimed at connecting artists across borders through shared creative expression. The initiative seeks to position Pakistan as a hub for cultural exchange, innovation, and collaborative music production.
Season 1 of Humnava was developed through an immersive music camp in Hunza, where more than 30 musicians and collaborators from Pakistan and countries including France, Germany, Algeria, and Zambia worked together in a shared creative environment. The project brought together diverse musical traditions, languages, and perspectives, transforming Hunza into a live production space for global artistic exchange.
According to the founders, Humnava was created to encourage artistic independence, cross-cultural collaboration, and a reimagining of Pakistan’s role in the global creative economy. Set against the dramatic landscape of Hunza, the project emphasized co-creation, with artists living, writing, and recording together over an extended period.
The debut release, “Hairan Amanam,” is a Burushaski-language composition meaning “I am in awe.” The track was recorded live in Hunza and features young artists Rizwan Abbas and Maheen Sattar, alongside international musicians from Germany and Algeria, including Bakrin Timlfati, Amine Laroug, and Dorian Jonas Goetsh.
Produced and musically directed by Xulfi, the song blends traditional and contemporary instrumentation, including rubab, acoustic and electric guitars, flutes, and electronic elements. The composition explores themes of love, emotional transformation, and human connection, portraying awe as a profound response to breaking emotional and cultural barriers.
The track was written by Zulfiqar Ali Khan Bercha, composed by Xulfi, Bercha, and Fahim Uddin Hunzai, and arranged by Xulfi and Sherry Khattak. The music video was directed by Aamir Mughal, with post-production by Mehroz Raza, production design by Hashim Ali and Sahra Bohra, and styling by Wajeeha Badar.
Following the release of “Hairan Amanam,” Humnava Season 1 will continue with upcoming tracks including “Noor-e-Nazar,” “Qataghani,” “Holoyor,” “Sway,” “Lost in Love,” “Koi Achi Khabar,” “Isketa,” and “Darmaan,” each contributing to a broader narrative of global musical storytelling.
The song is now available on YouTube, Spotify, and broadcast platforms, marking the beginning of what creators describe as a long-term cultural journey across borders, genres, and communities.
Co-founder Xulfi described Humnava as a platform rooted in “hope and curiosity,” emphasizing that the project is driven by emotional expression and creative freedom, with music serving as a universal language that connects people beyond boundaries.
