The proposal has been approved by Maryam Nawaz following a summary submitted by the DIG Traffic Punjab. The plan will now be presented before the Punjab Assembly for final approval.

According to the proposed revisions, fines for motorcycles will be reduced from Rs2,000 to Rs1,000, while rickshaw penalties will drop from Rs3,000 to Rs1,000, with serious violations capped at Rs2,000.

For cars and jeeps, fines are set to decrease from Rs5,000 to Rs3,000. However, penalties for overspeeding across all vehicle categories will remain unchanged.

The plan also introduces significant relief for higher engine capacity and commercial vehicles. Fines for vehicles above 2000cc and luxury cars will be reduced from Rs20,000 to Rs10,000, with revised penalties ranging between Rs2,000 and Rs10,000 depending on the violation.

Similarly, fines for Mazda trucks, coasters, and small passenger vans will be cut from Rs20,000 to Rs7,000, while penalties for buses, trucks, and other heavy vehicles will be reduced to Rs10,000.

Officials said the revised structure aims to create a balanced approach by maintaining enforcement while making penalties more proportionate and manageable for the public.
