Islamabad — President Asif Ali Zardari has directed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to remain actively engaged with the United States and Iran to ensure the continuity of the ongoing peace process between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Peoples Party, the direction was given during a meeting held at the Presidency, which was also attended by senior government officials.
The president appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran, noting that the initiative had positioned Pakistan as a key mediator in regional peace efforts.
He emphasized that sustained engagement with both sides, as well as other regional and global stakeholders, is essential to maintaining stability and advancing the peace process.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed the president on the details of the US–Iran dialogue, including the progress achieved through Pakistan’s mediation efforts and ongoing diplomatic contacts.
He also informed the president about his upcoming visits to Saudi Arabia and Türkiye aimed at further strengthening diplomatic outreach and regional coordination.
The president praised the coordination among state institutions, calling it instrumental in enabling Pakistan to host high-level talks between the United States and Iran.
He said Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue reflects its position as a responsible actor in promoting regional stability and global peace.
Separately, the prime minister also met Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi, where they discussed governance and administrative matters in the province along with broader national issues.
The governor commended the prime minister’s efforts in supporting the ceasefire initiative and praised Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in easing regional tensions.
