Atif Farooqi, Advisor and Chief Operating Officer of PRBC, met Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed to discuss the next steps in implementing the port cooperation framework. Farooqi extended an official invitation to the KPT Chairman and Secretary to visit Romania, marking the next phase of collaboration. Sohail Shamim Firpo also attended the meeting.

Signed on March 31, 2026, the MoU establishes a strategic partnership linking Pakistan’s main port with Romania’s Constan?a, creating a new trade route connecting South Asia and Europe. Ambassador Dan Stoenescu highlighted the initiative’s potential to foster economic growth and strengthen bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Farooqi praised the Ambassador’s vision, stating that the initiative sets the stage for a “new era of bilateral trade and friendship.” In turn, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed lauded the proactive efforts of PRBC, emphasizing that the KPT–Constan?a partnership would open broader avenues for regional connectivity and economic progress.

The collaboration is expected to improve logistical efficiency, enhance port operations, and create investment opportunities, positioning Karachi and Constan?a as key gateways for maritime trade between Asia and Europe.
