KARACHI — Murtaza Wahab on Monday inaugurated a newly constructed road developed by English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM), built using recycled industrial plastic waste, marking a step toward sustainable urban infrastructure in the city.

Bank AL Habib Limited Announces 45% Final Cash Dividend, Total Payout Reaches 150%

Located near EBM’s manufacturing facility in Karachi, the road aims to improve connectivity and facilitate smoother movement for traffic and logistics in the surrounding industrial area.

The project demonstrates how low-value plastic waste can be diverted from landfills and repurposed into durable infrastructure. It also presents a scalable model for incorporating recycled materials into Pakistan’s urban development initiatives.

Speaking at the inauguration, EBM Executive Director Shahzain Munir said the initiative reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to innovation and sustainability. He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful progress.

Mayor Wahab praised the effort, stating that such practical innovations are essential for Karachi, as they simultaneously address infrastructure challenges and environmental concerns.

The project was developed in collaboration with Concept Loop as part of EBM’s broader sustainability agenda focused on circular solutions, resource efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The inauguration ceremony also featured awareness activities highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and responsible waste management.

Founded in 1966, EBM markets its products under the Peek Freans brand and remains one of Pakistan’s leading FMCG companies.
