Islamabad : The Federal Directorate of Education, under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in collaboration with UNESCO, observed the International Day of Education through a youth-centred event held at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-7/4 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Organised with partners including BECS, the National Commission for Human Development (Pehla Qadam Movement for Social Change), Special Education institutions, and the ASPIRE Programme, the event highlighted a shared commitment to reducing out-of-school children, strengthening teacher development, and advancing inclusive, quality education.
Aligned with the global theme, “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education”, students led performances and presentations, while participants discussed youth leadership and responses to emerging twenty-first century challenges, including rapid technological change.
Madam Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Education, was the chief guest. Keynote remarks were delivered by Mr Nadeem Mahbub, Federal Secretary, and Mr Syed Junaid Ikhlaq, Director General, FDE. Speakers appreciated UNESCO’s continued partnership and commended IMCG F-7/4 for hosting the event.
The observance reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 4 and Article 25-A of the Constitution, and highlighted FDE initiatives including curriculum modernisation, teacher training, digital learning, and community-supported enrolment drives.
