Karachi: The Government of Sindh has nominated the President of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, Mohammad Ahmed Shah, as a member of the Senate of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL), Karachi. This nomination has been made by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, for a three-year term under the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law Act, 2013.
The decision reflects the growing role of arts and culture in educational governance and public policy. This step is expected to help bridge the gap between law and life, theory and experience, and the classroom and the community. The inclusion of a representative of arts and culture in the governing body of a university is being termed a welcome move.
Mohammad Ahmed Shah has played a significant role in promoting fine arts, literature, theatre, music, dance, and other cultural activities not only in Pakistan but across the world. It is worth mentioning that during the World Culture Festival held last year at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, artists from more than 140 countries participated, which strengthened Pakistan’s cultural exchange at the global level.
He has successfully organized several major events including the International Urdu Conference, Pakistan Literature Festival, and various theatre, dance, and music festivals. Additionally, in 2023, Mohammad Ahmed Shah also served the Government of Sindh as Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, and Social Protection.
