Islamabad (Jan-12-2026) Prominent business leader and former president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Shahid Rasheed Butt said that global powers are generating severe anxiety and uncertainty worldwide. He said the entire world was already troubled by new economic policies, harsh trade tariffs, various sanctions, and an aggressive diplomatic approach, and military operations have now also begun. The growing uncertainty has slowed global economic activity, and developing economies such as Pakistan are experiencing its direct effects. He noted that rising energy prices, supply chain disruptions, and volatility in currency markets were further weakening fragile economies and increasing inflationary pressures on households and businesses.

Shahid Rasheed Butt said that the imposition of heavy tariffs on trading partners, forced trade agreements, freezing of assets, restrictions on trade, and exclusion from the global financial system have pushed countries to search for alternative currencies and new payment mechanisms. He added that despite claims of avoiding wars, military actions are being carried out in different regions. These actions, he said, are undermining investor confidence, delaying new investments, and forcing businesses to adopt a cautious approach.

He warned that fears of further operations in sensitive regions have destabilized the global oil market, leading to sharp price fluctuations and uncertainty over future supplies. Shahid Rasheed Butt said that diplomacy remains the only sustainable solution to global problems, but under the current circumstances its space appears limited. He urged major global powers to adopt the path of dialogue to avoid nuclear confrontation and a prolonged global crisis, otherwise the world may have to pay a heavy price for this uncertainty.
