Karachi (Staff Reporter): The dilapidated condition of Marston Road and the accumulation of sewage water outside Gul Plaza Market and other key commercial centers have created severe problems for traders and buyers. Potholes have appeared all over the road, and due to rainwater and sewage covering them, accidents are occurring frequently. According to citizens, motorcyclists and car drivers are often injured after slipping and falling, while the foul-smelling water has made the environment unbearable.
In recent days, following traders’ protests and media coverage, some cleaning work was done to drain the water from the road, but the core issue remains unresolved. Expressing his views on the situation, Gul Plaza President Tanveer Pasta said that the negligence of the administration has dimmed the vibrancy of the markets. Despite repeatedly lodging complaints with the concerned departments, the lack of practical steps by the administration and KMC has caused losses to traders and severe inconvenience to buyers.
Tanveer Pasta further stated that although the Water and Sewerage staff carried out suction work, the water has accumulated again. He stressed that the sewerage line in the area must be replaced. According to him, if the government and municipal authorities take timely action, the problem can be solved easily, but continued negligence has left both citizens and the business community distressed.
Tanveer Pasta demanded immediate notice from the Sindh Minister for Local Government, the Mayor of Karachi, and officials of the Water and Sewerage Corporation, and called for permanent improvements in the sewerage system. Traders warned that if their issue is not resolved, they will take to the streets and protest, as this is a matter of survival for their businesse
