RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), on Friday reiterated the unwavering bond between Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), emphasizing that their enduring partnership remains a cornerstone of regional stability and mutual strategic interests.
Speaking at the General Headquarters (GHQ) during a ceremony marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of the PLA, Field Marshal Asim Munir affirmed that the Pakistan Army and PLA are not just allies, but true “brothers-in-arms,” whose collaboration continues to grow stronger despite evolving global challenges.
The event was graced by the Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, as the chief guest. Also in attendance were Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché of China, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force, according to a press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Welcoming the Chinese delegation, COAS Asim Munir congratulated the PLA on its 98th founding anniversary and praised its vital role in China’s national defence, security, and development.
He stressed that the Pakistan-China friendship is not only unique and time-tested but also a model of resilience and strategic depth in an era of shifting geopolitical landscapes. The COAS highlighted that mutual trust, unwavering support, and a shared vision for regional peace and prosperity remain at the heart of this bilateral relationship.
The Chinese Ambassador, in his remarks, thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for organizing the event and appreciated the Pakistan Armed Forces for their resolute efforts in countering terrorism. He reaffirmed China’s strong and continuous support for Pakistan and expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between the two nations will further deepen in the years to come.
