Karachi : Syed Aman Shah, the Provincial Convener of Awaam Pakistan Party – Balochistan, has stated that Balochistan is currently grappling with a severe economic crisis and widespread unemployment. The people of the province are deprived of basic necessities, while the youth are falling into despair and deprivation.
He pointed out that despite being rich in natural resources, the majority of Balochistan’s population is forced to live below the poverty line. The lack of employment opportunities, educational institutions, and industrial development has left thousands of educated youth wandering from door to door with degrees in hand, yet unable to find jobs—neither in the public sector nor in the private sector. This dire situation is fueling anxiety, crime, and extremism among the younger generation.
Conditions are even worse in rural areas, where there are no schools, hospitals, or access to clean drinking water. With limited livelihood options, people are either compelled to migrate or engage in hard labor for meager wages.
Syed Aman Shah further added that both federal and provincial governments have consistently failed over the past decades to deliver the rightful share to the people of Balochistan. The unjust distribution of resources, corruption in development funds, and flawed policies have economically crippled the province.
He stated that the Awaam Pakistan Party demands: 1); Immediate and sustainable employment opportunities for Balochistan’s youth; 2); Special packages to promote vocational education, skills training, and small businesses. 3); At least 10% of federal development funds to be allocated specifically for Balochistan’s economic revival. 4); Priority employment for local residents in CPEC, Reko Diq and Gwadar development projects.
Syed Aman Shah warned that if urgent action is not taken, poverty and unemployment will further intensify, with adverse effects not only on Balochistan but across the entire country. He concluded by affirming that the people of Balochistan deserve the same development and prosperity as any other region of Pakistan.
