Diplomatic Rebuttal to Sherry Rehman: Pakistan’s Bugs Bunny Diplomacy vs. India’s Strategic Leap By Dr. Gholam Mujtaba

In Washington’s diplomatic chessboard, Pakistan’s so-called “Bugs Bunny Delegation” secured nothing more than selfies, while the Indian delegation achieved substantial wins in both substance and visibility. Let’s dismantle the narrative:
1.    Pakistan’s delegation only appeared alongside members of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and the subcommittee on South Asia; however, neither the committee chairman nor U.S. officials made any statements, and only Pakistani media reported success.
2.    India’s delegation, however, met with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, enjoying bragging rights that come with direct support from the U.S. administration.
They also met with the chairs of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
The House Foreign Affairs Committee,
The Senate Intelligence Committee and other senior lawmakers, all of whom received extensive press coverage.
Critically, the Indian delegation’s outreach was validated through international and American media:
•    Economic Times reports confirmed that “Congress MP?Shashi Tharoor met U.S. Vice President?J.D. Vance … the primary focus … was combating terrorism”
•economictimes.indiatimes.com+6hindustantimes.com+6indiatoday.in+6ndtv.com+11m.economictimes.com+11economictimes.indiatimes.com+11.
•    Vance’s unequivocal support was documented: “Vice President Vance was unequivocal,
•    categorical in his support for India’s stance against terrorism.”
•    m.economictimes.com.
•    The New York Times and Wall Street Journal also covered these engagements, underscoring their substance.
Rebuttal to Sherry Rehman
Sherry Rehman’s public portrayal of Pakistan’s visit as “a successful diplomatic engagement” is false and misleading:
•    Rebuttal 1: No access to the U.S. administration—no Vice President, no Secretary of State, no President.
•    Rebuttal 2: Claims of endorsement are self-generated by Pakistan’s press, not by U.S. officials or independent media.
•    Rebuttal 3: The Indian delegation received formal, high-level engagements with publicly reported outcomes across globally recognized publications—evidence that Pakistan lacked.
Summary:
Diplomacy works on results, not propaganda. Pakistan’s delegation failed to break through; India’s delegation delivered, with validation from U.S. government officials and media. Sherry Rehman’s portrayal is not just optimistic—it’s objectively false and harmful to Pakistan’s credibility.
Dr. Gholam Mujtaba is a Pakistani American political leader, senior advisor to Donald J. Trump, and Chairman of the Pakistan Policy Institute USA. He campaigns for merit-based statesmanship and genuine global engagement.
