Pakistan’s under-12 boys’ tennis team has reached the final of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) South Asia Championship after an impressive semifinal win over India on Thursday.
The young squad showcased remarkable form, clinching both singles matches in straight sets. Rashid Ali triumphed 6-2, 6-3 against B.C. Thanush Shekar, while Muhammad Shayan Afridi overwhelmed Khatri Nayan with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Pakistan had earlier advanced through the group stage with clean 3-0 wins over the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
The team will now face host nation Sri Lanka in the final on Friday, in what promises to be an exciting showdown.
Officials from the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) praised the team for their consistency and commanding performances throughout the event. The win over India was especially meaningful, following Pakistan’s under-16 Davis Cup team’s earlier defeat to the same opponent, and was seen as a strong boost to the country’s youth tennis development.
