Military Stance on May 9 Remains Firm, Accountability Urged: DG ISPR

Pakistan’s military spokesperson, DG ISPR Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace while making it clear that Pakistan will not succumb to Indian hegemony.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry emphasized,

“India is not the United States, and Pakistan is not Afghanistan. India is not Israel, and Pakistan is not Palestine,”
— highlighting that any comparisons are misleading and Pakistan will not accept domination.

Rejecting New Delhi’s claims about Pakistan’s involvement in the recent Pahalgam incident, he asserted that India has failed to provide any credible evidence and is using such accusations to justify its terrorism-linked activities.

Addressing heightened tensions at the border, the DG ISPR confirmed that Pakistan had downed five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, though India has not acknowledged the losses. He added that the international community is aware of these developments.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry revealed disturbing figures regarding terrorism in Pakistan, stating that over 3,700 terrorist incidents have occurred since January 2024, resulting in 3,896 deaths, including 1,314 martyrs, and more than 2,500 amputees. He alleged that India is actively supporting terrorist groups, such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which recently targeted the Jaffer Express.

He further noted that Indian politicians, leaders, and retired generals have expressed support for the BLA, pointing to direct foreign interference in Pakistan’s internal security.

On the Kashmir issue, the DG ISPR stressed that it is an internationally recognized dispute, and India’s repression is the core cause of unrest.

“India is trying to forcefully portray Kashmir as an internal matter,” he said, adding that no genuine efforts are being made toward peaceful resolution.

He concluded with a strong message:

“Pakistan seeks peace, but any aggression from India will be met with a decisive and immediate response.”
