PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Tuesday that the remaining eight matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), which were postponed amid recent India-Pakistan tensions, will resume on May 17, with the final set for May 25.

Initially shifted to the UAE due to security concerns, the league was suspended after an Indian drone crashed near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium last week. However, following a ceasefire agreement, plans are now in motion to restart the tournament in Pakistan.

Taking to X, Naqvi shared that the PSL will pick up from where it paused, stating: “Let the aura take over as we unite and celebrate the spirit of cricket.”

According to sources, franchises have contacted foreign players who were evacuated via charter flights amid rising tensions, and are now negotiating their return for the new schedule. Rawalpindi is expected to host the remaining matches, pending confirmation of player availability and final approval from the PCB.

There’s optimism within the PCB, especially with no international cricket clashing with the proposed dates. However, the return of Australian players remains uncertain, as most left the region and are reportedly hesitant about returning.

Interestingly, Ricky Ponting — coach of IPL franchise Punjab Kings — disembarked from a flight to Australia after news of the ceasefire, raising hopes that some international players may still return.
