Pakistan Downs 25 Indian-Launched Israeli Harop Drones, Calls Attacks Cowardly and Provocative

Pakistan’s military has announced the interception and destruction of 25 Israeli-made Harop drones launched by India since last night, calling it a desperate act of aggression following the loss of Indian aircraft and personnel. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that all the drones were neutralized using both advanced technology and weapons.

This comes just a day after Pakistan mourned 31 civilian deaths from Indian attacks and condemned the repeated violations of the Line of Control (LoC), describing the strikes as acts of state-sponsored terrorism.

Pakistan’s military leadership, including DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, labeled the drone attacks a reaction to India’s military failures, including the loss of five fighter jets, which India partially acknowledged by stating that three had crashed within its borders.

Indian drone attacks reportedly targeted areas across Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Attock, Chakwal, Bahawalpur) and Sindh (Sukkur, Umerkot, Karachi). While most drones were destroyed, one managed to partially strike a military target near Lahore, injuring four soldiers and causing minor equipment damage. Additionally, one civilian was killed and another injured in Sukkur’s Miano area.

According to the ISPR, the Harop drones, also known as Harpy drones, are designed for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) and are equipped with high-explosive warheads. These drones, developed by Israel, were reportedly used by India to attack Pakistan’s air defense infrastructure.

In response to India’s admission of drone usage and escalating cross-border attacks, Pakistan’s military termed the move a “panic-driven” and “cowardly” reaction, warning that such aggression could destabilize the already fragile South Asian region.

Lt Gen Chaudhry accused India of targeting civilian and religious sites on May 6 and 7, resulting in casualties including women, children, and the elderly. He warned that instead of de-escalating, India appears to be acting out of frustration and is aggravating the situation to satisfy political egos.

Calling for global attention, he urged the international community to recognize India’s ongoing provocations and their potential to endanger regional and global security. Pakistan’s armed forces, he affirmed, remain on high alert, fully capable of defending against any future threats.
