A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House – the Residence of Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles : The ceremony was attended by notable members of Pakistani-American community from different parts of California. The event was also attended by Mayor of Artesia Mr. Ali Sajjad Taj, Mayor of Torrance Mr. George K. Chen and Member of Torrance City Council Mr. Asam Sheikh.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles Mr. Asim Ali Khan raised the national flag while the national anthem of Pakistan was being played. Special messages from the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Shairf were read out on the occasion.
The dignitaries presented their greetings to Pakistani community on this auspicious occasion. They also recognized the role of Pakistani-Americans in different walks of life in the United States. They offered their full support to the Consulate and Pakistani-American community in their respective jurisdictions.
The Consul General also addressed the participants. He outlined the improvements in economic condition of Pakistan and reaffirmed resolve of the Government to overcome various challenges being faced by the country. He also discussed the important role of Pakistani diaspora in the socio-economic development of the country.
The Consul General urged the community to continue to play their role in the improvement of Pak-U.S. bilateral relations and national development of Pakistan.
The Consul General also shed light on the efforts being made by the Consulate General in providing a high standard of services to Pakistani nationals on the U.S West Coast and for improvement of a soft image of Pakistan.
National songs were also sung during the event. The participants thank the Consulate General for organizing an elegant and dignified event and exchanged messages of felicitation on the festive occasion.
