Children in Sindh’s Sujawal District face many challenges. Over 72% suffer from stunting due to malnutrition, school enrolment is very low and access to essential health and nutrition services is limited.
During a recent visit, Ambassadors of Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan and Embassy of Sweden in Pakistan, Henny de Vries and Alexandra Berg von Linde, along with #UNICEF Representative Abdullah Fadil, observed the challenges firsthand—and the power of change.
UNICEF has introduced the Scaling Up Convergence and Coverage of Essential Social Services (SUCCESS) initiative, which is based on children and families receiving essential healthcare, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, education, and protection services—all coordinated, all within their villages.
The Ambassadors noted the striking changes in SUCCESS villages—where empowered communities are actively tackling issues like child marriage and improving their children’s futures. Rolling out the SUCCESS initiative has been possible thanks to the support of donors like the Netherlands and Sweden, who provide flexible core resources to UNICEF programmes in Pakistan and globally.
