KARACHI – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issues the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to Pakistani citizens, which serves as a crucial identification tool. The CNIC is a blend of advanced technology and rigorous regulations to ensure its authenticity. The unique 13-digit number on the card is recognized nationwide and is necessary for obtaining various documents such as licenses, NTN, bank accounts, passports, and cellular connections. It is mandatory for all Pakistani citizens aged 18 and above to acquire an NIC, as it is essential for transactions such as property dealings.
As of December 2024, the standard fee for issuing a CNIC is Rs750, with processing time of up to 30 days. The urgent fee is Rs1,500, and the card will be issued within 12 working days. For those seeking an expedited process, the executive fee is Rs2,500, and the card will be issued within seven working days.
