In a groundbreaking initiative, the National Textile University Faisalabad (NTUF) has partnered with Reverse Resources (RR) and KnowTex to transform the Textile-to-Textile (T2T) recycling industry in Pakistan. This collaboration aims to establish a structured framework for managing textile waste, ensuring transparency, and enabling verifiable traceability in the recycling process.

According to a spokesperson for NTUF, this project will have a significant impact on the local industry, addressing legislative requirements of Pakistani textiles importing countries. It will also tackle the biggest challenges of textile waste recycling in Pakistan, providing numerous economic and environmental opportunities.

The project will target both quality textile waste and informal waste from the textile sector. Despite the growth of Pakistan’s textile recycling industry, there is still significant untapped market potential. By scaling recycling initiatives, economic and environmental benefits can be unlocked.

One of the key aspects of the collaboration is to create a formalized structure for the demand and supply of textile waste, establishing digitally verifiable traceability in T2T recycling. RR is also implementing a custom waste mapping program for brands, enhancing recycling process visibility and aiding in the establishment of scalable circularity.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards a more sustainable textile industry in Pakistan, showcasing the commitment of both NTUF and RR to drive positive change in the recycling sector.
