Karachi, 15 March 2026: Chairman of the Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP), Kaukab Iqbal, while talking to the media at the CAP office, said that the theme of World Consumer Rights Day 2026, “Safe Products, Confident Consumers,” highlights the shared responsibility of governments, industries, and businesses to ensure that consumers are provided with safe, quality, and reliable products.
He stated that in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace, it is extremely important to ensure the safety and quality of products available to consumers, particularly food items, medicines, electronics, and children’s toys, so that consumers are protected from potential risks and hazards. Unsafe and substandard products not only endanger public health but also undermine consumer confidence in the market.
Chairman CAP Kaukab Iqbal emphasized that consumer confidence can only be strengthened when there is strict monitoring of product quality, transparency in manufacturing processes, and effective enforcement of laws to prevent the sale of unsafe products in the market.
He further said that clear product labeling, accurate ingredient information, safety instructions, and an effective product recall system help consumers make informed choices. In this regard, close cooperation among governments, regulatory authorities, industries, and consumer organizations is essential to ensure the availability of safe and quality products in the marketplace.
Kaukab Iqbal also stressed that the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), food authorities, and other relevant government departments must play an active and effective role in protecting consumer rights. He added that authorities responsible for the transport sector should also ensure the protection of passengers’ rights, safety standards, and fair fares.
He noted that the Consumers Association of Pakistan has been actively working across the country for the protection of consumer rights, public awareness, and policy advocacy. Through seminars, awareness campaigns, and public engagement initiatives, CAP continues its efforts to promote a safe, transparent, and fair marketplace in Pakistan.
On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, he urged the government, industries, and all stakeholders to work together to ensure that consumers have access to safe, high-quality, and reliable products and services, thereby strengthening consumer trust in the market.
