Italy: Stellantis has announced its commitment to continue investing in Mirafiori, Turin, where the iconic Fiat 500 is produced. This decision was confirmed during a meeting in Rome convened by Minister Adolfo Urso, where representatives from the Piedmont Region, the Municipality of Turin, trade unions, and industry associations gathered to discuss the future of automotive manufacturing in the region.
The meeting aimed to secure more car production at Mirafiori and to emphasize Turin’s importance for engineering and vehicle design. The participants presented a joint document, highlighting the need for a new model to be produced at Mirafiori to reach an annual production target of 200,000 cars.
President of Piedmont Alberto Cirio emphasized the importance of Mirafiori as the largest factory in Europe and stressed the need for a new model to meet production targets. He also highlighted the importance of keeping engineering and design activities in Turin and Piedmont.
The meeting also addressed the concerns of Fismic Confsal, with Deputy General Secretary Sara Rinaudo emphasizing the need for a long-term industrial plan for Mirafiori to ensure sustainable production and job security.
