Karachi : Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI, has apprised that FPCCI & Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) will tangibly enhance their cooperation to promote trade, investments, joint ventures and broader economic relations. He reiterated the fact that Pakistani diaspora in Scotland is already very strong and Pakistan stands a great chance to up-scale its commercial and business interests with Scotland.
It is pertinent to note that Dr. Jeanette Forbes, Ambassador of Scottish Chambers for Pakistan, visited FPCCI Head Office in Karachi to present her plan to the prominent business personalities vis-à-vis trade promotion between the two counterparts, he added.
Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, SVP FPCCI, maintained that FPCCI is looking forward to Scottish investment and cooperation in infrastructure development, renewable energy, water resource management, financial services, food & beverages, healthcare services and retailing ventures.
Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon continued that, in return, Pakistan offers the prospect of reducing Scotland’s cost of doing business through skilled, abundant& cost-effective workforce; business process outsourcing (BPO) and facilitation in sourcing competitive products and services.
Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former SVP FPCCI, stressed that FPCCI remains unwavering in its commitment to forge productive, reciprocal business relationships with SCC. It firmly believes in the power of strong alliances to support and promote trade activities for the mutual advancement of our nations, he added.
Dr. Jeanette Forbes, Ambassador of Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) for Pakistan, highlighted that the Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC), at the heart of Scotland’s business network, represents over 12,000 companies and more than 50 percent of the private-sector workforce.
She added that a noteworthy collaboration between SCC & FPCCI was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on September 26, 2022 – aiming to strengthen trade cooperation. Despite this, there remains much work to be done in areas such as export promotion; foreign direct investment (FDI); joint ventures (JVs) and business-to-business (B2B) linkages.
Ms. Forbes specifically emphasized on the tourism, hospitality and cultural avenues in Scotland – and, how it can play a pivotal role in the promotion of people-to-people; business-to-business and, on a macro-level, chamber-to-chamber linkages. We are looking forward to working with FPCCI for its being the apex body of Pakistan’s entire business, industry and trade community, she added.
