Sindh eSports Championship 2026 Opens in Karachi With Over 1,000 Teams

KARACHI, August 24, 2026: The Sindh government has officially launched the Sindh eSports Championship 2026, with more than 1,000 teams from across the province taking part in the major gaming competition.

The opening ceremony took place at Liaquat Library in Karachi. Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Sindh Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar attended the event as chief guests.

Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister for IT Ali Rashid, Sindh Assembly member Saima Agha, Sports Director Asad Ishaq, CEO of Troy Fit Ahmer Azam and Dawlance representative Waleed Haris Rana also attended the ceremony.

New Opportunities for Young Gamers

Speaking at the event, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said empowering young people and providing them with better opportunities in sports, education, technology and employment remains an important part of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision.

He described the Sindh eSports Championship as a source of pride for young people and an opportunity for them to showcase their skills.

Shah said Nexora’s “The Next Era of Champions” initiative would give young people a professional platform to develop their talents. He added that the Sindh government was creating opportunities for youth in both traditional sports and emerging fields such as technology and eSports.

More than 1,000 teams from across Sindh have registered for the championship. Organisers have announced a prize pool of Rs3 million for the winners.

The competition will feature popular titles including PUBG Mobile, Tekken 8 and FC 27. The event aims to bring members of Sindh’s growing eSports community together on a single competitive platform.

Qualifiers Across Karachi

The qualifying rounds will take place at various universities in Karachi. The organisers will then hold the semi-finals at leading shopping malls in the city.

The grand final will take place at the Karachi Expo Centre during the first week of October.

Shah said the Sindh government continues to improve sports facilities and infrastructure across the province. He added that the government was also organising sporting events, talent-hunt programmes and initiatives to support athletes.

Under the leadership of Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar, the Sports Department is conducting sporting activities throughout the year.

The department is also focusing on grassroots talent through talent-hunt programmes and measures designed to encourage promising athletes.

Athletes Honoured at Ceremony

During the ceremony, officials presented shields to 24 boxers, jujitsu players and coaches who had delivered strong performances at national-level championships.

Shah praised Sindh’s talented boxers and jujitsu players for representing the province at national and international competitions.

He said recognising athletes could encourage more young people to take part in sports and pursue competitive careers.

The minister also praised the efforts of the Sports Department, Nexora team, universities, partners, sponsors and young gamers involved in the championship.

“We can work together to build a platform where young talent receives recognition and opportunities to move forward,” Shah said, adding that the government would create more opportunities for young people across Sindh.

Several officials, including Wajid Shah, Deputy Director Syed Habibullah and DSO officials Ismail Shah and Shakeel Ahmed, also attended the ceremony.
