Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s statement regarding the Afghan-Pakistani armed clashes (February 27, 2026)
We are concerned over the sharp escalation of armed clashes between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, involving regular army units, aircraft and heavy weaponry.
There are fatalities and injuries on both sides, including among civilians.
We call on Afghanistan and Pakistan, our friendly partners, to abandon this dangerous confrontation and return to the negotiating table to resolve all differences through political and diplomatic means.
