Islamabad: Dr Arif Alvi has been elected as 13th President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to details issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf secured 353 electoral votes in the presidential election.
Joint candidate of opposition Maulana Fazal ur Rehman grabbed 185 votes while PPP candidate Aitzaz Ahsan could achieve 124 votes.
Total number of seats in the electoral college of the president was 1174, out of which 52 were vacant.
The number of voters who actually exercised their right of vote is 1110 out of 1122.
Twenty seven votes were declared invalid by the respective Presiding Officers, making the valid votes cast as 1083.
The official result of count on Form VII will be forward to the federal government tomorrow (Wednesday) for issuance of formal notification.
SINDH-RESULT
In Sindh Assembly, Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Aitezaz Ahsan secured highest one hundred votes followed by PTI candidate Arif Alvi fifty-six votes. Opposition candidate, Maulana Fazlur Rehman got one vote.
One vote was rejected.
It may be pointed out that total 158 votes were cast in Sindh Assembly out of the total strength of 163.
PUNJAB-RESULT
In Punjab Assembly, total 351 votes were cast out of 354.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Dr Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi obtained 186 votes, Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured 141 votes and the PPP candidate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan got six votes.
Eighteen votes were rejected.
KP-RESULT
Arif Alvi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf got the highest number of votes for presidential elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly today.
According to unofficial results, Arif Alvi obtained seventy-eight (78) votes, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman of Joint Opposition twenty-six (26) and Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP five (5) votes.
Two votes were declared invalid.
BALOCHISTAN-RESULT
In Balochistan Assembly, Dr Arif Alvi of PTI declared as winner as he bagged 45 votes while his rival candidate Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI(F) secured 15 votes.
Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP got one vote.
A total of sixty members out of 61 members of the provincial assembly polled their votes.
Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Madam Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar acted as presiding officer during the electoral process.
Dr Arif Alvi says he will be President of entire Pakistan
Newly elected President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi has thanked all the coalition parties and independent members to vote for him as President.
Talking to news men outside the Parliament House in Islamabad today (Tuesday), he said as President of Pakistan, he will perform his duties according to the constitution of Pakistan.
He also thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for nominating him as candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for the slot of President of Pakistan.
He said justice should be in reach of every citizen of Pakistan and poor should be provided with best health and educational facilities.
