ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme (PMLS) has officially extended its application deadline from May 20 to June 1, 2025, offering another chance for students to register and benefit from the program.
The extension provides a valuable opportunity for students who missed the earlier deadline to submit their applications and become part of the government’s push for digital empowerment through smart education.
An official stated that the initiative, launched under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, has received a strong response from students nationwide. The current Phase IV of the scheme aims to distribute 100,000 laptops to deserving students enrolled in higher education, boosting their academic and research capabilities.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility is limited to students currently enrolled in public sector universities and recognized degree-awarding institutions. The scheme is open to:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, MS/MPhil, and PhD students
- Applicants with at least 2.80 CGPA or 60% marks
- First-year students must submit HSSC marks
- New MS/PhD students should submit previous degree results
Graduated students are not eligible, even if they applied before completing their studies.
Quota Allocations
To ensure fair distribution, the scheme includes a quota system:
- 18% reserved for students from Balochistan
- 5% for distance learning students, equally divided:
- 2.5% for Virtual University
- 2.5% for Allama Iqbal Open University
Laptops will be awarded based on inter-se merit within departments and academic programs, ensuring a transparent and merit-based process.
How to Apply
Students can apply via the Digital Youth Hub (DYH) mobile app or through the official website: www.pmyp.gov.pk, which is fully operational.
A 15-day objection window will follow the release of the provisional merit list, allowing applicants to raise concerns before the final merit list is published.
Applicants are strongly advised to apply as soon as possible to avoid last-minute delays.
