KARACHI, August 14, 2026: Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day was celebrated at the Central Prison and Correctional Facility in Karachi with a special ceremony attended by Sindh Minister for Prisons Ali Hassan Zardari as the chief guest.
The event brought together senior prison officials and staff to mark the national day with a flag ceremony and other activities.

Minister Ali Hassan Zardari arrived at the facility alongside Inspector General of Prisons Fida Hussain Mastoi.
DIG Prisons Karachi Range Aslam Malik and DIG Prisons Hyderabad Range Nasir Khan also accompanied the minister.
Senior Superintendent Central Prison Karachi Abdul Kareem Abbasi received the delegation upon arrival.

The minister then inaugurated a 45-foot Pakistani national flag at the prison premises.
A contingent of prison guards presented a formal flag salute during the ceremony. The event highlighted the importance of national unity and respect for Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Following the flag ceremony, the dignitaries proceeded inside the facility for the main Independence Day event.
Minister Ali Hassan Zardari and the senior officials jointly cut the Independence Day cake.

The event also reflected the participation of correctional institutions in national celebrations across the country.
