Karachi, April 16, 2026 — The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has announced the appointment of former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi as its Sports Consultant, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to promoting sports development in the country.

Afridi, widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most dynamic cricketers, notably held the record for the fastest One Day International (ODI) century for 17 years, highlighting his impact on the game.
NBP President Rehmat Ali Hasnie, along with senior executives, welcomed Afridi to the organization, expressing confidence that his experience and leadership will strengthen the bank’s sports initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Hasnie said Afridi’s inclusion would significantly support NBP’s mission to promote sports excellence and nurture talent at both grassroots and professional levels.
Addressing a ceremony at the NBP Head Office, Afridi said he aims to elevate NBP’s sports programs and contribute to developing future athletes. He also acknowledged the bank’s long-standing role in producing top sports talent in Pakistan.
