The Sindh government has formally requested the suspension of mobile phone and internet services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, citing security concerns during Ashura processions.
According to official sources, the Sindh Home Department has sent a letter to the Ministry of Interior, recommending the temporary shutdown of mobile internet services along the routes of mourning processions across various districts in the province.
The request aims to enhance public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during one of the most sensitive religious events of the year. The move is in line with previous security measures taken during Muharram in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Interior will review the request under standard security protocols and is expected to announce a decision soon.
If approved, mobile and internet services will remain suspended temporarily in selected areas on 9th and 10th Muharram, particularly where large gatherings and processions are scheduled.
