Pakistani actress and dancer Mehar Bano has opened up about the hidden reality of harassment that exists behind the dazzling world of showbiz. Speaking candidly during an appearance on Tabish Hashmi’s private TV show, the Taxali Gate star addressed the exploitation many artists silently endure.
Now residing abroad, Mehar revealed that individuals in the entertainment industry — both men and women — often face inappropriate demands and indecent proposals in exchange for work opportunities. She noted that harassment is not gender-specific and is a widespread issue affecting many struggling to establish themselves in the industry.
In response to a question from a young audience member, Mehar stated that, like many other sectors, the entertainment industry has its own dark side. The attractive and glamorous appearance often required in showbiz, she said, makes artists more vulnerable to exploitation by those in positions of power.
Known for her bold and fearless personality, Mehar emphasized the need to speak openly about such issues. She called for honest dialogue around harassment in the industry, urging that the silence and stigma be broken.
“Both male and female actors go through it. Harassment exists, and it needs to be talked about,” she said firmly.
Her statements have sparked a wider conversation about the toxic culture that exists beneath the surface of the entertainment world, reigniting calls for stronger safeguards and accountability within the industry.
