Karachi Fire Stations received a major boost as Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated two new emergency response centers in Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Bolton Market. The project aims to improve firefighting services and reduce emergency response times across the city.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) launched the new facilities as part of its plan to modernize Karachi’s rescue and firefighting infrastructure. As a result, residents can expect faster and more efficient emergency services.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Wahab said the new fire stations mark an important step toward improving public safety. He added that the city needs stronger emergency services to meet future challenges.

The mayor also announced that authorities have restored the Gulistan-i-Jauhar Fire Station after nearly 30 years. The station had remained abandoned for decades. However, it now operates as a fully functional emergency response center serving Gulistan-i-Jauhar and nearby neighborhoods.

He said Karachi has experienced several devastating fire incidents over the years. Therefore, the city must invest in better infrastructure, modern equipment, and improved preparedness.

“We have learned from the past and are taking practical measures to ensure that our firefighting and emergency response systems can meet future challenges,” the mayor said.

Meanwhile, KMC continues to upgrade fire stations across the city. It is also purchasing modern firefighting vehicles and equipment with support from the Sindh government.

According to the mayor, the Sindh government launched a multi-billion-rupee project under the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari. The initiative aims to transform Karachi’s firefighting services with modern technology and equipment.

In addition, authorities have started an international competitive bidding process to purchase advanced firefighting machinery. They expect to complete the procurement process soon.

The upgraded fire stations will include high-capacity water storage tanks, solar-powered systems, and improved operational facilities. Consequently, firefighters will deliver more reliable emergency services throughout the year.

Previously, the Gulshan Fire Station handled emergencies in both Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Gulistan-i-Jauhar. As a result, emergency teams often faced heavy workloads. The restored Gulistan-i-Jauhar station will now share those responsibilities and help reduce response times.

Mayor Wahab said the city continues to invest in better infrastructure and public services. He added that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to building a safer and better-managed Karachi.

“The transformation of Karachi is not limited to one department. We are investing in modern infrastructure, better public services, and improved facilities across the city. These projects reflect our commitment to providing citizens with a safer, more efficient, and better-managed Karachi,” he said.

Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffar, the Director General of Technical Services, the Chief Fire Officer, and other senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
