The Ambassador of the Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has expressed “sincere and profound” appreciation for Pakistan’s leadership, particularly Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, for facilitating recent diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Iranian envoy also commended senior officials and veteran diplomats of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, describing them as “trusted harbingers of international harmony” and praising their role in enabling structured dialogue between conflicting parties.
Moghadam highlighted that diplomats play a crucial role in transforming political intent into practical diplomatic processes, stressing that their work involves careful coordination, preparation, and sustained engagement long before formal negotiations begin. He described this effort as “the quiet, persistent labour that makes dialogue possible and peace attainable.”
His remarks come at a time when Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a facilitator of dialogue amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran. Islamabad has sought to present itself as an “honest broker” in efforts to reduce regional escalation and encourage diplomatic engagement.
According to officials, Pakistan’s foreign ministry has been actively engaged in backchannel diplomacy involving multiple stakeholders. In recent days, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with counterparts from the United Kingdom, Canada, and Egypt, during which all sides underscored the importance of dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand both acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating diplomatic engagement, while Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty also appreciated Islamabad’s role in promoting regional stability and communication among concerned parties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that discussions included broader regional developments as well as bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, and institutional ties, with an emphasis on strengthening high-level diplomatic exchanges.
Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts come amid ongoing indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran. Reports suggest that during recent discussions held in Islamabad, the US proposed a long-term suspension of Iran’s nuclear activities, while Tehran offered a shorter pause, reflecting continued gaps between both sides.
Despite intensive diplomatic activity, the talks have yet to produce a breakthrough. The situation was further complicated after US political changes in planned diplomatic travel, even as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made multiple visits to Islamabad as part of ongoing shuttle diplomacy.
As regional tensions remain high, Pakistan’s emerging role as a diplomatic intermediary has drawn attention from both regional and global actors, who continue to emphasize the importance of sustained dialogue for stability.
