RIYADH : The Museum of the Holy Quran in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has put on display a very rare and unique Quran from the 13th century AH (19th century AD). This manuscript has become a special center of attention for visitors and researchers due to its unconventional octagonal shape and its ancient history associated with the Indian subcontinent. According to experts, this Quran was produced in India, where the arts of calligraphy, decoration, and binding were at their peak during that period. This unique design has taken special care of both beauty and practical convenience. Unlike traditional square manuscripts, it has been prepared at eight angles, which is a beautiful combination of Islamic architecture and geometric art. The size of this manuscript is very small, which was called ‘Hamail’ in ancient times.
